The ArmLock’s Origin
While treating patients with chronic tennis elbow, I was surprised by how tight and restricted the affected muscles felt. I discovered that applying a gentle, sustained stretch for 20 to 30 minutes often brought remarkable relief.
A few years later, my wife developed plantar fasciitis. Since I was familiar with the condition, I bought her a “Strassburg Sock,” a device designed to provide a sustained stretch to the tissues of the foot during rest. Out of curiosity, I tried the sock on my own arm — and that became my Eureka moment.
I realized the same sustained stretching approach I had been using with my patients could be adapted into a wearable device for tennis elbow. I modified the concept into a glove, added a supportive rigid component, and the ArmLock was born.
